However, on August 2, 2024, the Cambodian Government and the National Bank of Cambodia announced a new rule: All banks must accept any type of US banknote, regardless of condition, without extra charges or fees. The only exception is if the note is counterfeit or unrecognizable.

While this is a significant change, some local merchants may not yet be fully aware of the new regulation.
